Hoopa Unbound has been released from the confinement of the Prison Bottle at the hands of a remnant of Team Galactic. After a hard fought battle that results in the temporary loss of its arms, Hoopa goes into hiding while plotting vengeance on the person responsible, Isaiah Wright. Now teleported to the Galar region thanks to Hoopa's ring, Isaiah is in unfamiliar territory. He will have to defend himself against Ultra Beast attacks under the control of Hoopa with all new Pokémon under his commend. In order to quell Hoopa and rid the world of Team Galactic for good, Isaiah must form an extraordinary bond with his team, thus embarking on another journey. Merc Tanner is new to the Galar region. He's asked to compete in the Gym Challenge and gather Wishing Stars. The reasons for doing so are unknown even to him. With his experience Merc will put a spotlight on himself as he travels through Galar streaking for that Champion Cup. Along the way he'll meet new people, make friends, and battle rivals. Hopefully when it's all said and done, Merc will put Leon's reign to bed. (Read Synopsis for backstory, and Chapter 1 for plot narrative)

The story begins when our main character Mugi makes her way to Hammerlocke to challenge the eight and final gym leader. She has prepared her whole life for this moment. However when she enters the gym, the leader who she has to face is her childhood friend Raihan who had moved away when they were younger. Their relationship fell apart and they hadn't spoken in years. The pair are shocked to see each other and Mugi finds herself beginning to fall in love with the boy who saved her life.

Koa used to be Kalos Queen. She left that life behind when she ran away to be in Galar. Now, she has to deal with the exploitation of the vulnerable by Chairman Rose. She must battle the system where the powerful prey upon the powerless, all while exploring her new relationship with a certain moody gym leader.

I just got a new Switch Lite and Pokemon Sword for my birthday earlier this month and I am absolutely in love with the main character's rival, Hop. I think he's sweet and I love his drive, and I definitely ship him with the main character (guy or girl). In the little town of Postwick where Aurelie and her mother had moved, she made a few friends as she grew up. Hop, Hop's older brother Leon, and another kid who moved there from Unova - Lee. Life changed when they all joined the gym challenge to defeat Leon. Life changed again, when Aurelie became the Champion and the country of Galar was left to her. It had been 6 years since she had become Champion, and the world had moved on. Lee became the new eighth gym leader, taking over for Raihan. Hop was on his way to becoming a full-fledged pokemon professor, and Aurelie is settled in to her life as the Champion - at least, that's what everybody thought. The truth of the matter was, Aurelie was miserable. Everyone had gone off to do their own thing, live their own lives, and she feels like she was left behind, bound by the oath she made as Champion. The days were the same, day in and day out, and she took to a bottle more often than not to help deal with the pain. She missed the world when she was younger, when the man she loved was around and she could enjoy his company. She was alone, but alive. At least for now.
