After the events of Galar with Eternatus Marnie visited Kanto for the first time in her life. On her way through Kanto she encountered a boy from Alola about her age. His name was Gladion. Both Marnie and Gladion slowly warmed up to each other in their time in Kanto, so they started dating. After 10 years they got married and had two kids. But where they lived was less then ideal for children because in Orre most of if not everyone had a shadow Pokémon and new couple didn't want their kids having a shadow Pokémon so they moved to Paldea where their older child's journey begins.
