After a tragedy in one of his district's many factories when he was 2, he has lived in the community home. There, he found a family for himself. Due to being in the community home, he wasn't allowed to take tesserae, so he should've had favorable odds. Unfortunately, the odds are often unpredictable, so he ended up as a tribute. Once in the Capitol and the arena beyond, Poland finds allies and strange friends in District 5's tributes, East and West Germany. However the prospect of only one victor looms over the alliance, and all of the 24 tributes fighting for favor and fame. Surviving will be difficult, but Poland has faith. Winning requires something more than strategy and luck, though: sacrifice. And Poland may not be willing to lose what he has all over again. This fic has West Germany x Poland!! "Some people just aren't meant to be, Poland." Those were the words I heard; that broke my heart. I had been there for this woman when she was blamed for her FATHERS actions. Thats right; not her own actions. HER FATHERS. Life can be so goddamn unfair. Sometimes the person who breaks your heart is also the person who you fell head over heels for, you devoted your life to finding. Just for them to turn you down. I love her. I love her... I loved her. "Some people just aren't meant to be, Poland." Those were the words I said; that hurt me more than I could imagine. Who knew the daughter of the Third Reich, the country that caused so much death and destruction, would be this sensitive. Especially for a woman. Being raised homophobic is one thing, being raised homophobic by someone who would kill you for it is another thing. Sure, she was there for me when I was blamed for my fathers actions. But I just accepted it at this point. I had gotten used to it at this point. But the words still hurt me so badly, I thought I didn't like her? I don't. I don't... Maybe I do.
