The world Whoosh has always known is disappearing. The glacier that gave him life-and whom he simply calls Mother-is gone. The older icebergs insist there is nothing to be done as they slowly melt back into the ocean. The strongest icebergs cling to the old ways, stubbornly holding Smash Mashes even when it is clear that they only make things worse. Everyone else quietly hopes for a miracle. But Whoosh isn't content to wait around and hope for things to change. Joined by his best friend Frank, a slightly didactic 100-ton Blue Whale with a deep appreciation for mid-century lounge music (it's a long story), and Paul, a hitchhiking polar bear who shares a first name with literally every other polar bear in existence (it's also long story) who has discovered something impossible in the waters far to the north, Whoosh sets out in search of the truth. What follows is an unforgettable journey across a rapidly changing Arctic, where the three friends encounter loss, friendship, courage, humor, and wonders none of them imagined. Navigating treacherous currents, the menacing shadows of an enormous and jagged rival iceberg named Crak, and the distracting beauty of a sad iceberg named Srak (yes, she's a bit of a manic pixie dream berg), Whoosh is a story about what you do when the world you have always known begins to disappear.
