Stanley Uris came from old money, kind of, he was always middle class but being from a traditional Jewish family, he was more upper-middle class. That's why he went into accounting. It was a stable job that made stable money. He could be well off on his own with his salary, and his whole job was managing other people's money, so he was good with his own. Of course, when he chose to work a stable paying job, he didn't take into account the high paying jobs of his partners.
