Two young oceanographers are anxiously anticipating the next leg of a long expedition to secret man-made islands in Polynesia where laboratories and factories are preparing cutting edge technology to save the world. For now, they are recovering from a near-shipwreck off the shores of Antarctica. One is busy typing up descriptions of the mutant mollusk data collected in the aftermath. The other is planning to write about the first part of the long voyage.

Set in a somewhat ancient Tonga, Queen Dinah is given the throne after the death of her family. She meets Normani under unusual circumstances, and soon falls in love.
