Set a little over 1,000 years before the actual movie. This is the story of Kahawai, a demigod who has had more than her fair share of trials. This includes being orphaned at 12, having her best friend for centuries turn on her, and falling for none other than Tamatoa, who she has more in common with than either of them think. (Note: Kahawai is my own character, and I do not wish to offend any Polynesians whatsoever with this story. Story changes POV from Kahawai and Tamatoa.) Bengt Danielsson followed Thor Heyerdahl on the Kon-tiki fleet. He experienced it all differently from Heyerdahl and here I try to express how he would have described his adventures for young adults living today - if he would still have been with us.
