HOTE finally got their chance to open for Jason Pride, but realize that they must write and record a song of their own to perform at their first concert. They get Freddie to help them, as he knows more about songwriting than they do. Meanwhile, the band must find the other crystals, in order to stop Dominique from achieving them. Both Manolo and Marisol realize that they're both in love with Sacha, but they can't date him because he already has a girlfriend, but what they don't realize is that she's cheating on him with Anton. Manolo forms a friendship with Jason to help him get over his crush on Sacha, but learns that he has a secret that he doesn't want anyone to find out. Manolo forms a father-son relationship with Freddie, to help him feel more confidant and understanding. Marisol forms an unlikely friendship with Dominique, as Dominique convinces Marisol to become a diva to get people to respect her, even if it means hurting the people she cares about, including her cousin.

The band are spending their summer vacation in Tokyo, Japan. They are going to perform for a toy company in order for a sponsor to help with their career. Marisol meets a girl her age who wants to become a singer, but lacks confidence so Marisol helps her out. Manolo and Sacha are questioning their relationship when Sacha gets too jealous of Manolo's friendship with Davy. Freddie meets an old flame and wonders if he could ever fall in love again. Alicia, Dominique and Annika fly to Japan to get their revenge on the band with the help of Santiago.

The band are going to perform at their school winter carnival. Marisol starts to understand that her relationship with Manolo means more to her than anything that's going on in the world. The band gets a surprise from Charles that will help their career. Annika plans to get her revenge on Marisol and her bandmates.

As a new girl group in the pop music industry, Zezilia, Icelyn, Faith and Elise emrged from youtube as their rising stars. They were known as, Fize. After Virgin EMI Records signed them on, they were estatic, even provided a house to live in temporarily. Little did they know, their lives were getting into a hot mess, as the also rising British Pop Band, the Vamps, pop up from nowhere, to mentor them. The band finds out why Freddie gave up his dream too quickly, and it relates to why they have to change their image for the sake of their community. Manolo and Jason starts seeing each other, after getting his heart broken by Sacha, when he found out about his crush on him. Marisol finds out that Alicia and Anton are seeing each other behind Sacha's back, so she decides to take advantage of the situation, so Sacha would leave Alicia for her. Marisol lashes out on Freddie for giving up his dream too quickly, and then says something to him that she'll end up regretting. The band has found two more crystals, but realize that Dominique is aware of what they're doing, and they must hide the crystals where she can't find them. Sacha finds out that Alicia is cheating on him with Anton, and decides to break up with her. Sacha regrets the way he reacted to Manolo's crush, and wants to make it up to him.

Sydney Ross is a high school student in California. Her best friend, Christina Marie, invited her to a party one Friday night. Christina also invites Corbyn Besson, who invites his band mates. Why Don't We helped Sydney through her fathers passing, so this could change everything. Expecting Why Don't We to be there, her life changes when she talks to Daniel Seavey.

Filming for Rocko's movie has started. Marisol becomes very close with Rocko, making Alex jealous. Santiago found a way to tear HOTE apart by using Rocko to take Marisol away from them.

Homecoming is on it's way. Manolo feels Sacha is being too lazy to want to go to Homecoming. Marisol questions if she made the right choice with Rocko. Santiago will use Rocko to get his revenge on Homecoming Night.

Sacha convinces Manolo to join the basketball team with him, so he can fix his friendship with him, and realizes that he may have feelings for Manolo. Manolo and Marisol's relationship becomes strained when an old memory of them resurfaces. The band convinces Freddie to perform again, so he can relive his dream of being a musician. Manolo starts dating Jason, but it becomes complicated when Jason is forced to come out of the closet, and Sacha is trying to win Manolo's heart. The band are performing at the school's Sadie Hawkins dance, but trouble arouses when Dominique and Alicia join forces to steal the crystals from the band.

The band are now juniors at Donovan High. A Hollywood movie is being filmed at the school, and the band get to meet it's leading star. Marisol is having trouble with Alex, so she leans on Rocko, the movie's leading man.

They've audition for a few record labels, but found no success. They found out that their history teacher Freddie Herrera used to be a musician in his youth, so they ask him if he could help them get a record deal by being their band manager. He said no, not because he doesn't want to get their hopes up, but he is trying to hide his secret from his students that he's actually a warlock from another dimension. They find out about his secret, and they promise to keep his secret, but they still want him to be their band manager. He agrees, however they must help him find 8 crystals that are hidden under the school, because every 50 years, a mysterious darkness comes to the human world, and they must find them before the darkness does. Freddie's evil twin sister Dominique became a member of the darkness, but her brother or her family doesn't know about it, and knowing that she'll do anything to stop her brother from saving the world from the darkness, she decides to get a job as a PE teacher at the school, to spy on Freddie and his students and stop them from ruining her evil plan.
