A Comedy of Errors Travelogue

The Empire, a corrupt and cruel place where the rich rule over the poor and treat them as though they were worth less than dirt. Hope was lost for those who were still good in the Empire. Then came Night Raid a group of assassins dedicated to the elimination of the Empire's corruption... But, a legend is spreading throughout the Empire of a man whose feats of strength defy description. A man who by all accounts, is unbreakable in battle and unrelenting in his attack of those who wrong others for no just reason. A man who does not back down for man or beast, a man who stands and fights for what he believes. A man who, despite his reportedly unyielding strength and prowess in battle carries a genuine, jolly atmosphere about him wherever he goes, helping those who need it, reward or not. The Empire needs to beware now. Because this man fears NOTHING. Not danger beasts, not rebels, not soldiers, not generals and certainly not assassins. So if they hear his merry tune and the toot of his pipe over the horizon, they better be ready, because he is always ready to brawl with the BIGGEST, MEANEST AND STRONGEST sons of bitches who would do harm to the innocent. He's strong to the finnich 'coz he eats his spinach, he's Popeye the Sailor Man! I DO NOT OWN POPEYE THE SAILOR OR AKAME GA KILL THEY ARE ALL OWNED BY THEIR ORIGINAL CREATORS. I ONLY OWN THE STORY.

During this cinematic year, I encountered the feature-length animatic for the cancelled "Popeye" film directed by Genndy Tartakovsky. While not strictly a film, the work and subsequent viewing experience was very close to earn a place in the 2021-2022 Film Journal, and so I had to add an entry on the topic.

It was another normal day for Stephanie to relax, until a mysterious legend got her attention, deciding to adventure to find the legend and to prove that there was such thing as the legend. But, not only the legend but a famous and well-known sailor named Popeye was attacked by a fearsome pirate only to be called, "Blackbeard" and his Olive was kidnapped by him and his goons, leaving him to die out in the sea. Can Stephanie, Popeye, and a few new friends and old friends go to Skull Island and rescue Olive from the fearsome pirate?

This is an Anisoka story where we actually kill the bad guys in the past. They won't bother us in real life, which is good. Because I don't want to deal with them. Even Bluto, Sinbad, and Abu Hassan wouldn't want to deal with Rita's goons.
