Life is different since they were 1A. Katsuki got over the Kamino Incident, in time. Kirishima tried his damn hardest to help him, but Bakugo kept him at arm's length, letting Eijiro in just close enough to care but not close enough for Bakugo to be vulnerable. It killed Kirishima to see him like that, but after a run in with Dabi, who ended up literally branding him, he woke Kirishima up with explosions every night. Kirishima has had enough of it and decides he's going to help, one way or another.

Dealing with the recent death of her boyfriend, Dakota wants nothing except to be left alone. She's done with romance. It's too hard, too complicated, too painful. She's had her heart broken so many times she's positive nobody could find all the scattered pieces and put it back together. And if someone dared to try . . . well nobody has tried except Zach and he's dead. Then comes along a soul who decides to try and fix her broken heart. Except Dakota's not sure she wants to be fixed. She has a secret. One she'd do anything to protect.

Bakugou always acts tough and better than everyone on the outside, but that's just a mask used to cover up his mental state. Bakugou has never had the best home life, traumatised by his mum keeping him and his dad silent. His life was at a breaking point, until he meet Kirishima and everything finally started to change.
