Let Me Tell You That I Love You follows Anne Matthews, a sarcastic and brilliant girl who has just finished high school and is preparing for Harvard. Anne has spent her life studying, avoiding parties, and staying far away from anything unpredictable. She also happens to hate Jaxon Reed, the famous pop star her younger sister Emily is completely obsessed with.
When Anne travels to Los Angeles with her family for the summer, she is forced to attend one of Jaxon's signing events. After an unexpected and embarrassing first encounter, Jaxon becomes intrigued by the only girl who does not seem impressed by his fame. Anne thinks he is arrogant, fake, and impossible to stand, but the more they meet, the more she begins to see the lonely boy behind the perfect celebrity image.
As Anne and Jaxon grow closer, they both struggle with the roles they have been forced to play: he is trapped behind the mask of a pop star, while she is trapped behind the image of the perfect student. Between paparazzi, family expectations, music, secrets, and a summer full of unexpected moments, Anne must decide whether love is worth the risk of losing control.
