Then one day I realised that I need to fight my fears that haunt me every day. So I am going to fight. "H-hi" the large group of boys turned to face me as I felt a lump grow in my throat and my temperature rise, the boys exchange looks at one another... the tension grew until I saw him behind them all... Lura has had a hard life but it's going to get a whole lot harder when she meets people that change her aspects of life and she realises that she's not the only one who hides in the darkness. Kaitlyn is just a girl who doesn't like to talk at all. Kids at her old school would call her 'mute' because she never talked. Not once in her life did she talk. Or that's what they thought. David is the biggest play-boy at Redphill Middle school. He has been with every girl at Redphill Middle School. He is currently with this one girl named Lilly. He was thinking about ending there relationship a while ago, but for some reason she was different. (so he thought) Lilly the hottest girl in school, is what the boys call her, and the girls......., every one wants to be friends with her. Well almost everyone. There were only 4 girls (Shara, sidney, lurah, nacy) that hated Lilly and wanted nothing to do with her. But because of that she bullies them every day. But they never cared. What will happen when kaitlyn goes to Redphill Middle School? Will the the group of girls that hate Lilly get a fifth number? Or will Lilly get another 'wanna-be'?

This is a short story that deals with many issues teenagers struggle with today, like depression, self-image, self-worth, anxiety, domestic violence, drug addiction, popularity, bullying, cold parents, single parents. It's one day, one piece of big news, written from the perspective of three completely different girls: Arden, the "bad girl", Anneliese, the "quiet fat girl", and Alicia, the "popular girl", but behind the image projected to their classmates is a world of emotional struggles no one would ever guess they went through. I wrote this to explore characters I've never fully understood and in a way that makes those who read it (hopefully) realise there's so much more to people than who they present themselves to be, and maybe, just maybe, if we can open our eyes we might not be so quick to judge and label our fellow classmates anymore. I hope the story rings true to those who actually suffer from such situations, and I hope it touches all your heart strings...
