But what happens when a student with the name of Phil Lester comes up to him one day after school to ask if he's okay? The story is written in the first person, you are inside the mind of the main character, Alex. The city he's in is a mixture of being very technologically advanced, like modern society, however, thanks to it's ancient defence group (called the protectors), their weapons and defence technologies are very outdated by modern standards. This system is now being exploited by lots of criminals in society, which has torn our young protagonists life apart. This is supposed to be a fantasy esc adventure, so I hope you enjoy it! This is my first ever attempt at writing a story, so your going to have to bare with me on this. Fair warning, spelling and gramma are not exactly my strongest suit, so If I've missed any problems do let me know. I will also probably be making cultural references throughout to shows that I in no way own, so you must be forewarned. (By the way, I did not draw the title picture and I don't know who did, but whoever you are, your a remarkable artist)!

Hanahaki Byou(花吐き病) An illness born from one-sided love. Those affected with Hanahaki Byou or Hanahaki disease vomit and cough up flower petals-sometimes whole flowers depending on the severity of the case. The cause of the coughing up and vomiting of petals is due to the growth of a flower within the infected person's chest. There are only two cures. One is to have the feelings returned-no side effects whatsoever. The other is through surgery-a simple procedure that removes the flower and remaining petals from the chest cavity. When the petals disappear, so do the feelings and memories of the unrequited affection. If not cured or if left alone, the flower will grow and grow until eventually the person affected asphyxiates.

Tyler was sad. He was hurt, confused, angry, and scared, too, but most of all, he was sad. He didn't know if it was because he had been stuck in the same town for his entire life or it it was something a bit more serious, but that little uncertainty didn't stop him from applying to colleges all throughout the country and going to the one the furthest away from where he grew up. It wasn't the best choice he had made in his life, but suddenly there's this kid that shows up who dyes his hair a different color almost every month, and maybe, just maybe, he's the cure to Tyler's, well, whatever it is. This story is for all of you who don't know how strong and amazing you are, and for those of you who do. You have the power to do anything you can imagine. Use that power well.
