In which, during a cozy Winter Break in a cramped New York apartment, Will and Mike find their way back to each other in the midst of separate lives, college and healing. *** Almost two years ago, during The Party's D&D campaign after graduating high school, Will Byers made himself a promise: that he would get over Mike Wheeler. They still talk for hours on the phone, exchange letters like childish pen-pals, and meet up with The Party for holidays and breaks. But Will has one rule he abides by like it's the law: don't hang out with Mike alone. And he's sure it'll work. Eventually. Because it has to. So, he avoids Mike's attempts at meeting up, at visiting one another, and, lately, even his calls. But avoiding him proves difficult. More than difficult. Especially when Mike calls one evening, after two months of not speaking and four of not seeing each other, and asks Will if he and the rest of the Party can visit him in New York.
