It just means she has to be careful about what she eats, ensure she takes insulin every time, and ensure she knows how to check if her sugar is too high or too low and how to treat that. That's not a disability. Alex doesn't want to be at Camp Big Pine. And she will do her best to get kicked out and sent home if she doesn't run away first. Something happens that forces Mia and Alex to rely on each other. And the last thing Alex wants to do is rely on anyone.
