Those clouds sometimes release soft, gentle rain, enough to form puddles for the duck to swim in. But one puddle is different. In the far corner of the yard lies a pool that never dries. No cloud hovers above it. No rain feeds it. It simply is, as though the ground itself insists on holding water there. Today, the duck happens to be drifting in that puddle.
