Poseidon, heard her prayer, but could not directly intervein, so he sent Thetus to take and raise his son, though he did occasionally visited and gave him gifts as he was growing. However when the Trojan war began contact was all most shut off for years.

Annabeth doesn't survive Tartarus after the Arai Attacked and cursed them,She specifically dies in the curse of Calypso where Percy "Leaves her" she suicides and dies believing her true love Percy left her. Now Percy out of Tartarus is anguished and in despair, What happens when he sees Calypso and now that he is single girls are after him will his hatred and sadness get the best of him

Ever since Tartarus he could feel it- building up inside of him ready to break free and release everything he had to the world.
