I headcanoned that it actually WAS the original island for a park but it eventually became a testing facility. My aim for this fic is to provide extra context and backstory as to how we are led to the story in Rebirth, how it became what it is, and how Charlotte's story intertwines alongside it. Also a lot more of Dr. Wu because he's a legend period.
