Bucky's three children beg their "Uncle" Sam to tell them a story. Sam decides to make one up, casting your husband as the brave knight who has his heart broken by the woman he loves. Then, he meets you and things change. Bucky goes on a hero's journey with you and his best friend/squire Steve. Along the way, Bucky realizes what it takes to be a true hero. A Stucky slow burn will equal parts fluff and angst ,from before the war started to shortly after the ending of the movie -captain America the first Avenger- where you know Bucky "dies" and Steve sacrifices himself to save the world... What if Steve caught Bucky right before he would fall? "Hang on!" He reaches his hand out as far as he possibly can, his arms hurting from stretching them too far apart. "Grab my hand!" The metal starts breaking apart and it's extremely close to falling off. "No!" Bucky reaches out, their fingers barely touching. The metal breaks off. Steve barely catches him but is holding onto him just enough to pull him further up and back into the train. They both stand away from the big hole in the side of the train to avoid any other possible too close accidents.

When Bucky Barnes met Steve Rogers on the playground his first impression was not encouraging, Steve was just a child with a malnourished appearance, pale skin and a skeleton that threatened to come out of his body with every sneeze. Nothing in his appearance betrayed the greatness of his heart or the height of his spirit, only the clarity in his eyes came to betray his strong sense of justice...
