When 16-year-old Zane Carter shows up at Preston Lake with his horse Spartan, Lynn Matthews catches the love bug. However, at Preston Lake, a first date never goes as planned, even if Inez Davis is your wingman.

Preston Lake is opening its doors for a new veterans' program, and the riders are thrilled to help out. Each rider will be paired with a veteran, whom they will assist in various equestrian activities. When Inez meets her partner, 75 year old Rick, they bond instantly. While helping him learn to ride on Patches, she finds in the elderly man the grandfatherly figure she never had. Like her friends, Inez may be teaching her newfound friend how to ride.... but Rick may have a few things to teach Inez as well.

The riders gather at Preston Lake on Christmas Eve.... and end up stranded at the barn! Stuck together on the night before Christmas, Melissa, Lynn, Josie, Denae, Inez, Zane, and Tom find their own ways to get in the Christmas Spirit.

It's been a year since the horrific day Zane almost died from appendicitis, and no one thinks about it much anymore. No one but Denae, that is. On the exact date a year later, all the events of the day she saved his life are coming back to haunt her. Try as she might, she can't seem to put it behind her.
