It is a showcase to give the reader a glimpse of not only the character, but of certain aspects of the world she inhabits. Between her special gifts, a world-wise dean and a lecturer discussing Primi's passion, the young heiress will find herself sorely tempted to do as her father wishes. If she holds to her principals, she'll be able to do what she wants. If she gives in, it's possible she just might discover a whole new world waiting for her.
