Jiang Qin, a career woman and mother, navigates the struggles of handling a work obligation while her son, Yangyang, gears up for an important chess competition. When she has to miss it due to work, her son requests his father Zhu Zhilin to step in. Unfortunately, Jiang Qin learns too late that Zhu, with whom she shares a bitter history of divorce due to his infidelity, is now a gravely ill man. Despite her lingering resentment, she contemplates forgiveness, understanding the damage her bitterness has done to their son, and decides to allow her son to meet his ailing father.
