The rich kids burn through money like oxygen, never knowing what it means to struggle. A year ago, fourteen friends set sail. Only four returned. Their story was airtight: a fire, a sinking boat, ten lives lost to the ocean. They moved on, distanced themselves, and buried the past. But when one of the "dead" washes up in California, alive, with no memory of what happened the cracks in their perfect lie begin to show. Now, the four survivors must come together and rewrite the past before the truth destroys them. Because in a town built on money, power, and privilege, even murder can be bought and buried... but not forever.

"How is it that jobs just seem to fall into the laps of posh people?" my daughter asked the other day. A rhetorical question? A truism? Both? Those of us who work in industries populated largely by posh people whom we do not resemble may have observed two phenomena. Posh people are often appointed to posts for which they appear to have no relevant experience; and posh people are regularly promoted effortlessly without apparent need to demonstrate above-average talent or previous successes. Obviously not ALL posh people, but enough for such occurrences to be more than random chance.

Adoption is complex and each adoption is unique. There is something that unites all adoptee though and it is loss. Many find happiness, joy, understanding, and their birth family while at the same time experiencing great pain. There are also adoptees who have had less ideal experiences. What they do with their life is up to each individual and many choose to write to make light of their lived experience. One of the perks of being an adoptee is realizing that we are powerful beyond all measure and the way we tell our stories is beautiful, thought-provoking, painful, insightful, humorous and unique.
