On one dark and stormy night, a desperate woman lays her child down on the steps of a farmhouse kitchen. She's been watching them for a while. She hopes that they will care for him in the way that she couldn't. It breaks her heart to leave him. But she has no other choice.

I sat on an old yellow swing set, the night still and solemn. My rage began to subside and a new wave of emotions came through. I could feel my shoulders shake as tears streamed down my face and left little damp circles on my lap. I cradled my right hand; knuckles bruised and split- the blood seeping into the cuff of my hoodie. Crying there, I could hear my name being called in the distance in such urgency. The sound so far. So angry. So scared. Rocking where I sat and whimpering slightly, I shook my head feebly in an effort to shake away my thoughts. I didn't mean to be a problem child.
