Not every time the damsel in distress will come looking for her hero, so that he could swoop in, save her ass 'and' take all the credit for himself. Maybe this time the damsel in distress wants to be the hero. Maybe this time it will not be the ruthless alpha rejecting the abused mate but the abused mate rejecting the 'ruthless' alpha. "Okay, Brownie, pull me out of here." Brownie looked reproachful as he grabbed her by her hands and yanked none too kindly. "Brownie?" "Ow!" Teddy groaned as her foot hit the edge of the platform. "Careful!" He rolled his eyes. "Whatever." He pulled again and this time, with a loud yelp from Teddy, he was successful at rescuing her from the now closed doors. --- And so Teddy Errol's foot/thigh/whole leg fell into the gap between the train and the platform. Miraculously, she was rescued by a handsome Australian guy who just so happened to be her opponent in her upcoming tennis match. Lo and behold, Nathan Wren was probably the most annoying boy Teddy had ever met. Nathan was her complete opposite: always smiling and nice... and hiding a secret he's afraid to tell the world. In school, we learned about the world before the End. People didn't have to think about whether or not they would live to tomorrow. There was time for fun, for entertainment. There were even things called amusement parks. Life during then seems like a fantasy to us, too ideal for the conditions now. People during the Golden Times had it easy. Now, it's no longer easy. Those people hadn't thought about the future generations, about how we would live. It never occurred to them that resources on Earth would soon be reduced dramatically, or that the air would soon be so contaminated that if one breathed in it for too long, they'd die. Now, we have to clean up the messes that they left behind. Because they were so irresponsible, we have to pay the price. Can we really do this? Is it possible for us to fix the environment? Or will Earth soon recover on its own, only to find itself uninhabited? I don't know.
