ONC 2024 LONGLISTER Features in @action reading list, Military & War SIEGE /siːdʒ/ a military operation in which enemy forces surround a town or building, cutting off essential supplies, with the aim of compelling those inside to surrender. **** Three people-two women and an old man-were left in the middle of a desert as a punishment for a grave crime each of them committed against the kingdom of Akkadiyah. However, the youngest of them, Salwa, woke up in the desert unable to recall the memory of her previous years. She had no idea why she was banished by a foreign kingdom, except for a key in her pocket that could solve the mystery. They wandered through the desert, learned how to survive in the harsh weather, befriended the Bedouins, and eventually reached the nearest living city with the help of a camel driver. Pieces of memory started to return to Salwa as they ran into a group of warriors defending the city from the same tyrant that banished them. As Salwa's memories began to clear the fog in her mind, she began to grow suspicious of her two companions. However, there was one thing they agreed on: to rise stronger than before and make the tyrant regret ever banishing them. *** Based on Prompt 20 from Open Novella Contest 2024. 'Three strangers. Two secrets. One key.' ** Thank you for giving my book a chance. I hope you like it and I would appreciate your feedback. :)
