Moments before the main character Derva tries to take his own life, he writes to a distant relative, accusing her of driving himself and her grandson to their deaths by supporting the current regime in her home country. First enraged Esther, the distant relative moves on with her life, but being more and more confronted with the regime she eventually joins the rebellion, believing Derva had died. Derva survives his suicide attempt moves to the regime led country in pushing for things to change. The government reacts fast seeming all too prepared , evacuating everybody from the West Coast to the East Coast of America steadily. When her towns evacuated, a young woman is left behind in the middle of chaos. Either awaiting her salvation or her damnation.

Lyra is not your everyday orphan at St. Willow, she's what most people call a witch, a sorcerer, a freak of nature. Nobody at the St. Willow respects Lyra, well that is until they need her help to save many of the orphans from becoming the slaves of a group of evil witches and wizards. The evil corporation conglomerate is on the prowl and looking for non-magical kids to enslave and sell to other cruel witches and wizards as live potion ingredients, sacrificial rituals and spell testing.

Sometimes we have to look back to know where we are going. The past is not just water under the bridge: it's the same recycled water. Who knows how many times we have gone through the cycle.
