hoi polloi: "the many" (In English, it has been corrupted by giving it a negative connotation to signify deprecation of the working class, commoners, the masses or common people in a derogatory or, more often today, ironic sense.) A collection of words that mirror the infinitesimal details that are weaved within the fabric of mankind's individualism and humanity.

I enrolled in a poetry course from January to the end of April of this year. In May, I traveled to Paris as part of an Art and English academic trip. These poems are the fruits of those labors. They are generally arranged oldest to newest.

Poetry is used to help me jump over my shadow, and locate what is blocking me from being able to get words on the page. Herein, I attempt to reveal my inner demons, secrets and have my words serve as my therapy. It's more than poetry...it's an author's diary.

The story of love and its side effects and aftershocks. All of the things that I have felt about you the four months you were with me and the time you left. Love shifts from the main vocals of the story, to a horrific tune playing in the background which becomes monotonous.

I wrote whimsical poetry because I was with my younger siblings, raised in books that lived out the nursery rhymes in classic tales beginning from infancy to adulthood. An archived proof of this is an old photo of my two sisters and me under the heading: “Tres Marias” and that’s only because we all shared the common name: “Maria.”
