Three boys hear that superpowers come from trauma, so they decide to give themselves some. The robbery is meant to be a scare. Then a hero fights something above them, and the ceiling comes down. Two years later Callan attends a New Jersey school that trains children whose gifts were born the same way his was - and every time he uses his, he wakes up somewhere else with no memory of what happened in between. His brother Axel is in a bedroom down the hall, building himself a pair of legs he intends to show nobody. They are competing for the same short supply of money, attention and forgiveness, and neither of them has ever told the other the truth about that day. Contains yet to come 30 chapters!

"Among the whole group-past the noise of Larry, Hayes, and Luna, the chaos of the younger twins River and Arbella, and the watchful eyes of Henry, Lisa, and the rest-Sal, Nyx, and Xavier stood out as a silent triad. They were the only three whose true faces remained entirely unknown. Each mask carried its own distinct atmosphere, turning their dynamic into a shared, quiet pact: none of them pressed for answers, because all three understood the weight of keeping the world at arm's length."
