It started out in high school, and Matthew just couldn't bring himself to get out of touch with the German male on the other end. He finally felt understood. He felt... visible. Gilbert kept in touch with the Canadian male through so many important things and told him everything. He was really close to this boy that was miles away. This is the Pen Pal Exchange Program that never ended.

Matthew was all but a young lad when his parents were killed. It seemed as though the people he was close to would be murdered just like that. Such trauma caused extreme isolation, he refused to talk nor look at anybody. Nobody noticed his pain and suffering. Not until he came across the murderer himself.
