After a year of searching for her and her Xelloren kidnappers with no luck, he closes off his heart and forces his hopes of ever seeing her again to die. But one fateful day, as he and his sister trek to explore a supposedly abandoned Xelloren fortress-leaving a trailing of crumbs behind them-everything changes. Captured by Chieftess Serrosa has left them in a dangerous position, yet Zaine feels hope for the first time since Liberty's kidnapping.
