Silence has a strange way of following certain people. For Alden, it wasn't just the absence of sound it was a presence, a shadow that grew with him, lived with him, and never let go. He didn't remember a time when he truly felt understood. Even as a child, with clay on his fingers and cartoons whispering company into his lonely room, he knew he wasn't built like everyone else. Life didn't get kinder with age. The streets taught him faster than home ever did, and the only real friend he found was someone who was just as lost in his own way. Together they tried to outrun the weight they carried, drifting through nights filled with smoke, noise, and choices that always left a mark. But no matter where Alden went no matter who sat beside him or who walked away the silence always returned. It waited for him at the end of every day, patient and familiar, like something he had tried his whole life to avoid. This is not a story about perfect heroes or happy endings. It's about a boy who grew into a man without ever escaping the echo of his own thoughts. It's about loneliness, the kind that stays. And it's about the moments, small and fragile, where he still managed to feel alive. Welcome to Beyond the Silence. Here, every quiet moment speaks louder than words

so I am a few chapters away from finishing "On Writing, memoirs of the craft by Stephen King", and the book has a lot of good bits about writing in it, I expect to read back over it a few times in the next few months. so the book only has one exercise, where you take the roles of an abusive, stalker husband, and a victimized wife, reverse their genders, and write a six or seven page short story about it. this was my take on it, its called "The day after labor day" let me know what you think about it!

Imagine a world where schizophrenia isn't considered a mental illness, but is actually a complex and diabolical scheme the government invented to take control of those who have been 'diagnosed'. In reality, that population have actually been born with a gift that gives them the ability to see into other dimensions and communicate to those that live within it - but that ability has been labelled as 'delusions' and 'psychosis'. These gifts are extremely powerful, and the governments around the world have been threatened by these abilities for centuries as they view them as a threat to their power. Written by AI after I gave it the prompt and guidance, this story delves into what this could be like. Enjoy...

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Senior Special Agent Nathaniel Kastros, better known under the alias "Nexus". 39 years old, FBI agent for 13 years. He's seen his fair share of things, but none as interesting as what happens next. An amnesiac woman found in a duffel bag in Times Square, NYC? He thinks it's all just inside his head, it's not real. "It's just a hallucination." he tells himself. "It's not real, everything is fake." he says to himself. Oh, but it's all so real. And he's appointed as head of the investigation this time around, without his consent. To top it all off, his best friend is now his direct subordinate. (This is a Blindspot AU.)

"Sometimes death comes knocking, but no one is there to answer the door." In 1881, an asylum is the last place a girl like Lenore, who has lost her sanity, wants to end up. Her family has tried to help her themselves, but after the death of her father and a deep spiral into the world of her mind, the only thing she seems to have left are the stories that she hears... in her head. Her mother must find a way to restrain Lenore's darkness, before it finds its way into the town she inhabits... if it hasn't already. This book is a frame for metaphorical thinking and short stories. The frame you hear here is not nearly as interesting as the paintings within :)
