In the forgotten coastal town of Greyhaven, young English archivist Thomas Berringer uncovers a hidden room in the museum where he works. Inside, arranged with almost ritual precision, hundreds of clocks stand frozen in silence. Each one bears an engraved name and the exact time that person died.
At first intrigued, Thomas tries to convince himself it is nothing more than a macabre historical collection. Until he finds a clock unlike the others: recently placed, free of dust, engraved with his own name... and a time that has not yet come.
With the help of Elise Moreau, a French watchmaker obsessed with the gears of time, and under the shadow of Viktor Drazen, a Croatian historian full of secrets, Thomas is drawn into a search that will drag him into a labyrinth of enigmas.
Soon he will discover that the clocks are not mere witnesses to death, but something far darker: mechanisms capable of sealing destinies. And his is already written.
In a place where time stands still and every second could be the last, Thomas must decide whether to confront the gear that governs life... or accept that some clocks should never be repaired.
