i'd never felt more stuck in my life, before him that is. i couldn't get out of this cycle, this schedule. i felt bored, but exhausted at the same time. i felt the longing, aching, need to do something, anything. but i didn't know what, or where to begin. until a boy with curly blonde hair and his friends moved in next door, "an escape from some sort of past," he said, and i didn't understand it at the time. i couldn't have prepared for the tidal wave of changes in my life that "past" would bring.

"Luke, ghosts are romanticized to be some creature that lurks in the dark and looks like a big white sheet like Caspar the friendly ghost. Sometimes they are made out to be a human that looks kind of fuzzy. That's not really what they are. They aren't friendly in the slightest. They are the returning and haunting of an image or memory."
