Michael Clifford was the kind of person everyone warned you to stay away from. His hair has been dyed too many times with too many colors and his name could fill a book with the too many times it was printed in the newspaper. Like a cat, he was lazy, proud and unpredictable. Possibly, he was the only thing in this boring little town that was exciting and out of context. And everyone despised him for that. Mouse Cohen’s hands have touched piano keys too many times to count and too many times has too much of her life been written out for her before she could even touch the pencil. Like her name, she was small, timid, and secluded from everything outside of her mouse hole, just the very embodiment of a mouse’s personality. She was the town’s most prized pearl and it’s been that way since she was born. The laws of nature calls for the predator to always chase after its prey once it’s been seen. When the prey is caught, it is eaten by the predator, killed, destroyed, ruined beyond repair. Life goes on. But when Mouse meets the Cat, the laws of nature don’t exactly go in their supposed order. The mouse has fallen prey to the cat. Just like how it’s supposed to be. But the cat fell victim to the mouse too.
