After losing her husband to cancer, psychiatrist Lana Lindsy struggles to move on. Every patient she counsels begins to sound disturbingly strange. Unsure if it's her own grief warping reality or something more sinister, Lana throws herself into new research on schizophrenia in adolescent girls, to distract herself.
That's when she comes across Gigi Morris, a seventeen-year-old who was recently brought to the hospital with severe schizophrenia. Intrigued by the girl's case, Lana secures special permission to live with Gigi and her family for two months to study her closely.
But what begins as a clinical observation quickly spirals into a nightmare. The more time Lana spends in Gigi's world, the more she realizes that Gigi isn't just a troubled mind but was something far more terrifying.
Now Lana must confront the horrifying truth before she's completely consumed by the very darkness she set out to understand.
