Apex is one of the many young and naive SandWing's who were deployed for the SS, or Burn's SandScrapers. A close knitted secret force Burn planned to deploy during the Great War but was never able to. After being dismantled, all the SandWing's struggled to flow back into society. Now at the age of 8, Apex is under the care of a female soldier, Centipede. Centipede insists he joins the new academy in Jade Mountain to "watch over" the other SandWing's who plan to attend the academy, but Apex isn't dumb, He knows this is more for him than her. 6 years after the Battle of Jade Mountain, everyone lives in peace. Qibli and Moonwatcher live together. However, the young dragon does not manage to cross a course in their relations. Blame it on a great ice wing prince who hasn't heard from them since Darkstalkers. Moon then asks herself a question: did she make the right choice that night at the stronghold of Queen Thorn.
