Callie McIntyre is a astrophysicist for NASA, working to engineer a rocket that can shoot across to the Andromeda galaxy. Earth materials are getting harder to find; and everyday metals needed for shelter and safety, like aluminum and titanium are running out. Mines are collapsing from brittleness and earthquakes, and the Earth is plunged into a disaster. Panic rises, until, Callie runs experiments, and travels country-to-country-- and finds a sustainable super-material in an underground base in Kazakhstan, a non-Newtonian chemical-reacting substance seeping through the insulation into the walls of a bathroom. But they can't build the rocket. Not without getting incredibly ill. Amyranium is sickening anyone who gets too close, but not for Callie. And when time is running out, and they have to launch the NOAH (New Origin Andromeda Horizon) rocket, will the mission succeed?

I ship OtaYuri both romantically and platonically, and I don't really have a preference, but seeing as very few fanfics give importance to platonic love, I thought that I would write one that did. If there's one take away from Yuri on Ice, it's that love is a valuable and precious thing that takes place in many forms. This story is off of one of my headcanons that Yuri and Otabek are both asexual and aromantic, and their friendship goes from being very small to being a qpr (a queer/quasi platonic relationship, which is like dating, except without any romantic aspects, and in this case, without sexual aspects as well). When our population was as great as those above and we were free to swim for hours without fear, without the risking of our welfare and of our lives being cut short by having the breath stolen from our lungs. I often find myself yearning for those times, wondering what life would be like if those on land had left the sea alone. But I must push aside these trivial fantasies, for dreaming will not make life any easier. They cannot constitute for the struggles we have endured, and those we will continue to suffer until we are no more. For no matter how much we try to mask this offensive reality, we all know the bitter truth. Cinder, half demon, half human, and all social pariah, wasn't aware that she'd be rooming with a paranoid royal. With Ross, her roommate, Linnea, her new friend, and more friends by her side, maybe life could be more manageable. Emphasis on /maybe/.
