Two gems, A pearl and a Quartz are on a mission with their Sapphire. Their quest is to try and locate a missing ship that contained of Rubies, Topaz and some Nephrites. Over the course of this mission, the pearl and the quartz became good friends, but then became more than friends...

Stardust walked up and illuminated her wings and Opal went in front of both of them already digging her claws into the earth. "Opal what are you doing!?" Sea and Moonstone asked. Opal said nothing and dug her claws harder. Small crystals started to grow at the entrance. The VoidWings stopped their assault and looked on with wide eyes. The crystals grew fast, covering the entrance to Unakite's main cave. Opal left a little hole to poke her head through. Instead Sea poked her head through and hissed loudly at the four VoidWings. Through the pale translucent crystals Opal could just about see all four VoidWings rift away.

Meanwhile, through an overused trope in fan fiction, Steven meets Fordite and finds that there's something awfully familiar about her but just can't place his finger on it. Just looking at this girl makes Steven form feelings that are as conflicting as they are comforting, and he's determined to get down to the truth. As new discoveries are made, Steven makes the decisions to not tell the Crystal Gems about this new, cloned Gem and the possible connection she could have to Rose Quartz.
