Losing a dare to Sonic, Shadow is forced to be shown what fun is by Sonic. The blue hero of Möbius takes his rival to meet his family in the castle and they take a vacation there. Sonic had already loved Shadow and Shadow soon learns he also loved the blue hero back in a matter of days.

when sonic is an orphan at the age of 3 he is at an orphanage hoping one day to be adopted. when a royal queen names aleena adopts him he loves his new life. when he turns 5 he wants siblings. He goes back to the orphanage and adopts his new baby brother and sister manic and sonia. he loves his new life. (this is kind of like adopted by Stampy And Squaishy)
