Harlie Teague knows what it's like to struggle for survival. Life in District 7 is hard and hungry, and she's been working for the lumber industry even though she's underage. The only thought she has on her mind is keeping her loved ones out of the Hunger Games, which are drawing ever closer. Rebellion is swelling in the districts, and Harlie isn't sure whether she can be a part of whatever happens next. But she could never have prepared herself for what was to come: the shocking announcement of the Quarter Quell, and the dreadful outcome of the reaping. She and her best friend are thrown into the Games, where a mix of action, despair, terror, and death is inevitable. Allying herself with a boy who seems to either want to kiss or kill her, she begins to make her way through the Hunger Games. With so many other tributes out to kill her, Harlie is forced to make choices that could end her life or the life of someone she loves...forever.

It's the two thousandth Hunger Games, so this year we've got a Quarter Quell. The theme? Relatives ages 12-18 of previous tributes. After the "Best Games Ever" last year, the Capitol wants these Games to be unforgettable. With so much at stake everyone wants to be the victor... Or die trying. The entirety of District 3 stared unblinkingly ahead, watching as the glittering hand reached into the glass bowl and fished out a slip of paper. To say that the atmosphere was agonisingly still would be an understatement. The next two words that she said, aloud to the whole of District 3, changed my life forever.

The pairs will be connected via a new Capitol invention that will mean when one of them dies, so does the other. This will mean that the pairs will have to protect each other, because their lives are in their partner’s hands and vice versa. As you may be wondering how this will affect the final outcome, I am very excited to announce that for the first time ever in Hunger Games history, two tributes will be able to win! Yes, you heard me correct. There will be two victors! You will all hear more about this after the Reapings have commenced, until then, I bid you all adieu. The one hundred and fiftieth annual Hunger Games has officially begun!’’

9 years has passed for the Mellark family. Peeta, Katniss and their daughter Aloe are oblivious to the upcoming event and are once again thrust into the drama of the Hunger Games as the Quarter Quell brings forth two Champions.
