Frankie Robinavitch has probably spent more time in the ER than she's spent in her own house. Doing homework in the waiting room, sleeping on the staff room couches, playing Nintendo in the stairwell. Waiting and waiting and waiting for the end of her dad's shift, where he'd finally hang up his stethoscope and really become her dad.
Frankie is used to making sacrifices for his work. School recitals with empty seats, birthday parties cut short, disappointments stacked higher than the Empire State Building. She's the most understanding twelve-year-old in the world. That's what everyone says, anyway.
So, on the anniversary of the worst day of her dad's life, she's ready to make a few more adjustments.
