Vera Marozova is fifteen, living between two worlds she doesn't belong to.
On weekdays, she's at Blackwell-fixing broken lights in the theater, rolling dice with Mikey and Steph, pretending everything's fine. She listens more than she talks, cracks the occasional dark joke, and keeps people just close enough. Close enough to laugh. Not close enough to notice.
On weekends, she goes home.
Back to grease-stained hands, the hum of her father's mechanic shop... and the kind of silence that bruises louder than anything else. He never touches her face. Not since her mother died. Not since Vera started looking like her.
So she keeps busy. Fixing things. Helping out. Smoking when it gets too loud in her head. Letting music fill the spaces she won't.
And then there's Steph.
Somewhere between late-night D&D campaigns and lazy afternoons, Vera fell for her best friend. Quietly. Stupidly. Completely.
She'll never say it, though.
This isn't a story about saving the world.
It's about the things Vera fixes...
and the one thing she can't bring herself to say.
