A short story written for the Red Feather Award Summer 2019 writing contest. A grandchild and grandmother, always have a great bond. This story is one that centers around this bond. But does this grandchild know her grandmother like she thinks she does? Abby and her Nana, have been like the best of friends but one day something happens in their lives and Abby starts to wonder whether she knew her Nana at all.

Centaurs are nothing like the stories we were told about them. If anyone knows that, it's me. For so long I have been a part of this clan that I no longer remember my real name. As soon as I stepped inside these broken down walls I became Cherion. Or sraf kachkh, blood sucker (it's a long story) if you're feeling particularly insulting. See, the only reason an elf is alive and living with Centaurs is because I am the one who helped this clan survive when all the other ones died out. I am their only healer and since I can't escape I've grown used to this life. That is until they start taking prisoners from their raids. All of a sudden I don't feel like letting the elven girl sitting in a cell next to my hut become my "family's" next meal.
