Dr Rainer Gruessner and his team performed the world’s first entirely robotic surgeries for patients with chronic pancreatitis starting in 2012. Dr Rainer Gruessner has produced over 300 peer-reviewed publications, over 200 published abstracts, and over 75 book chapters. He is the lead editor of 2 standard textbooks on transplantation and a co-editor on a soon to be published textbook on innovative advances in general surgery. As a result of his many publications, Dr Rainer Gruessner’s h-index (an index that attempts to measure both the productivity and impact of the published work of a scientist) per Google Scholar is 54 and his RG score (which measures scientific reputation based on how all of one’s research is received by one’s peers) per ResearchGate is 45 - quite respectable for a practicing surgeon who spends many hours of the day in the operating room. Dr. Rainer Gruessner is one of the leading transplantation surgeons in the world. He began his successful career in 1983 with a medical degree from the Johannes Gutenberg University School of Medicine in Mainz, Germany. He went on to earn a “summa cum laude” award for his medical thesis at Johannes Gutenberg and completed his professorial thesis to obtain his “Habilitation”, the German PhD equivalent, at the Philipps University in Marburg, Germany in 1991. He completed a two year fellowship in transplantation surgery at the University of Minnesota. He spent time at Kyoto University learning live donor liver transplantation techniques. Dr. Rainer Gruessner used his experience to develop groundbreaking transplantation surgery techniques. His findings and research are widely available throughout his 600 book chapters, abstracts, and manuscripts. He also sits on many editorial boards of reputable medical journals. Dr. Gruessner has also edited two standard textbooks, with a third one, “Technological Advances in Surgery” coming out soon. Dr. Rainer Gruessner is a member of more than 20 prestigious professional societies such as the American Surgical Association, the Halsted Society, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, and the Society of University Surgeons. Because of Dr. Gruessner, countless patients will receive excellent, minimally invasive care that would not have been possible without Gruessner’s contributions.

A century or so ago, the government began inserting newborn children with a chip. It wasn't a means of regulation or control, but to help everyone find their other half. It got rid of the centuries of bias based on race, sexuality, and class to connect the two- and in some rare cases more- who best suited the other. The "Soulmate Chip" is what they called it. The chip, once safely implanted, would form a mark on the soulmates arm. The first part of the mark, usually something small like a line or a circle, appeared when both soulmates had their chips implanted. Some soulmates had the mark appear the day they were born, while others had to wait until their other half was brought into this world, much like he did. From there, a new portion of the mark would appear any time the soulmates were together, or well within a few hundred feet of the other. When the soulmates shared their first kiss, the black shape that related to an interest of the soulmates that had formed over the time they had spent together would complete. The next time the mark changes is when the soulmates consummate their relationship, adding color to the simple black figure.

I do not own any of this on the show (Famous in Love). I do own two characters in this story named Natasha Chapman and Michael Sutton.
