Love in the Rain Mia hurried down the cobbled streets of Paris, clutching her sketchbook to her chest as raindrops danced around her. She had forgotten her umbrella, but she didn't mind. The city was more beautiful in the rain, glistening under the streetlights, the scent of wet pavement and fresh coffee lingering in the air. As she turned the corner near the Seine, she crashed into someone-hard. Her sketchbook flew from her hands, landing in a puddle. "I'm so sorry!" she gasped, looking up. A pair of deep brown eyes met hers. The man standing before her had dark, tousled hair and a charmingly crooked smile. He bent down and picked up her sketchbook, carefully shaking off the water. "No harm done," he said, handing it back. Then he noticed the drawings inside-portraits of people, a sketch of the very street they stood on, and a half-finished sketch of a man's face. "This is incredible," he murmured, flipping through the pages. Mia blushed. "It's nothing, really." He looked at her curiously. "You don't see how beautiful your work is?" She shrugged, feeling suddenly shy. "I just draw what I see." "Then I hope you'll see me again," he said with a playful grin. "I'm Lucas." Mia smiled, tucking her wet hair behind her ear. "Mia." Lucas glanced up at the sky as the rain continued to pour. Without hesitation, he pulled off his scarf and gently draped it around her shoulders. "Would you let me buy you a coffee? Maybe tell me more about these sketches?" Mia hesitated for only a second before nodding. As they walked toward the nearest café, she felt a warmth spread through her-not just from the scarf, but from the way Lucas looked at her, as if he had been waiting for this moment his whole life. And maybe, just maybe, she had been too.

In the very beginning when the window was about to make a crackle sound; I was there to clean sweep of myself out of the box, and heard every beat of droplets, loud and clear! The wind was flapping so theatrically, It left my hairs knotted, like the whole moment was scripted! As the wind chime slowed down I, was running my fingers through my hairs, Trying to untie! Perhaps I knew the moment will come or will never be!

It's been four years since they last saw each other; Kesaline Landon and Daniel Perez meet in the worst of Kansas weather conditions. The time they spend together during the rainstorm forces secrets to unfold that where never told four years ago. ~~~~ "I thought your father and you didn't get along" I hold my breath as I realized what I said. Noticing he sighs "it's okay and yeah we weren't close but after graduation I had to work and I had no money for college so he took me with construction and I enjoyed it so I pursued my career in it" I nod. "What about you why social work?" I take a deep breath. "My parents actually died in an accident the night before graduation" and than something happened to me that made me interested in Social Work I want to say but I hold my tongue. He scrunched his eyebrows and opens his mouth but I cut in "anyway why don't I get more blankets. I run up the stairs before he says a word I close the pantry door and the sound of rain fills the room. I walk over to the picture frame of Jules and smile as tears flow down my cheeks. ~~~ Ranks 7 of 1,000 in #Kansas
