My tears fell freely now, wetting her hand. My heart was bleeding inside my chest, every breath a struggle. "Please, Jaan... just open your eyes once. Look at me once... please..." And then- The beeping stopped. The sound that had been keeping me alive-the only proof that she was still here-went silent. My world collapsed. "No... no... no!" I screamed, shaking her gently. "Reet! Jaan! Look at me! Don't do this! Don't leave me! Please, don't leave me!" ｡𖦹°‧⋆˚࿔

Malam itu gelapnya membunuh suara. Pekarangan Serambi Sukma, banglo rasmi Menteri Pendidikan Aryatera, terang oleh lentera minyak dan lampu gerbang. Tapi di hujung kebun rambutan di belakang dapur, gelap menunggu dengan panah bersiap. Dua jasad tumbang lebih pantas daripada jeritan yang sempat pecah di dada. Satu panah menembusi dada Tengku Shah Rauf. Satu lagi menyalur di leher Tengku Salsabila Zahrah, isterinya. Darahnya meresap pada hujung songket biru laut yang masih wangi bau cempaka. Dari celah kisi jendela, Tengku Zara Inara, baru lapan tahun, memeluk bahu adik-adiknya yang tiga orang itu. Tangan kecilnya menggenggam anak patung kayu, hadiah ayahnya petang tadi. Di luar, derap kaki senyap. Suara pengawal berbisik sumpah setia, pecah oleh desir panah ketiga yang hinggap di tiang balkoni. Seorang pengawal peribadi paling muda, Azfar, menyerbu masuk, mendekap bahu Tengku Zara. "Tengku, mari... kita jalan jauh malam ini. Jauh sekali." Tengku Zara cuma diam, anak patungnya jatuh terhempas di lantai marmar. Wajah ayahnya masih terbayang di gerbang kayangan, kaku, dan langit Aryatera di atasnya, berwarna kelabu besi.

Namun ternyata, Gadis itu pembohong. Dia ternyata memiliki trauma dan depresi yang dengan apik dibungkus oleh keceriaan dan senyuman di wajah cantiknya. ••• "Gue sakit Ja, lo pasti malu punya cewe yang sakit mentalnya kaya gue" Lirih Starla.
