In Ranchi, Jharkhand, seventeen-year-old Ishaan grows up in motion, his childhood shaped by constant travel across India due to his mother's specialised work. That fragile balance shatters three years ago when illness enters their lives, forcing Ishaan into early adulthood-managing caregiving responsibilities alongside his father while preparing for his 10th board examinations.
Their search for treatment brings them to Vellore, a city of hospitals and quiet endurance. Ishaan spends his days tracking schedules and medications, becoming almost invisible in the background of sterile corridors. One evening, exhausted, he wanders into the hospital garden and helps a frail elderly man who nearly collapses-walking him back to his room, unaware he has crossed into a restricted, closely guarded wing of the hospital.
A week later, lost in his mother's treatment charts, Ishaan collides with a boy in the corridor-someone who is sharp-eyed and unmistakably out of place. The encounter is brief. It should have ended there.
It doesn't.
The boy, Vihaan, begins appearing with unsettling persistence, calling Ishaan "Chaand," a name that feels far too intimate. Ishaan tries to ignore him, but Vihaan's presence is constant-protected by privilege, power, and an unsettling certainty that he belongs wherever Ishaan is.
This is a story of duty and exhaustion, where care turns into fixation, attention into possession, and escape becomes increasingly difficult the longer Ishaan pretends nothing is wrong.
