Ranching Stories

This is a poem collection about the lives shaped by open country and the things that never quite leave it. These poems wander through cattle yards, rodeo arenas, weathered barns, drought-stricken fields, empty saddles, and kitchen tables where generations of hard-working people learned to love without always knowing how to say it. It is about cowboys and the women who wait for them, fathers whose voices remain in old barns, horses that carry more secrets than people ever could, ranches passed down and ranches lost, and the quiet grief that settles into the prairie alongside dust and rain. Because out West, not everything that gets buried is dead. Some things simply become part of the land.

The story of two people that dated in high school in their small Midwest home town. Briefly infatuated with each other, they fell in love. But they broke up when they had a fight. Over the years they lost contact with each other. Never knowing what became of the other. They always thought about each other as the years past in their dreams. They each thought about what might have been. Then one day fate stepped in and by the grace of the Devine, they found each other again in the small Texas town of Medicine Bow. A thousand miles from where they last saw each other! What had happened to the other! They were about to find out! What would fate have in store for them this time? Mystic Moon Ranch spans over 250,000 acres of working land, and our pack has owned it since 1853. For generations, we've taken pride in more than just ranching. We've built a way of life here-one that provides food, jobs, and stability for nearby communities while protecting the land that sustains us. From the outside, Mystic Moon Ranch looks like an enormous, thriving agricultural enterprise. But to those of us who live here... it's much more than that. It's our home.

This is a small depiction of who cowgirls are, I haven't even begun to scratch the surface to describe cowgirls, there is so much more that can be said about the woman called, cowgirl. I do not own the artwork.
