Our home, Mystic Moon Ranch, is one of the largest ranches in California. Nestled between Bakersfield and Los Angeles, its land stretches across nearly every type of terrain imaginable-towering mountains, rolling valleys, winding canyons, and miles of rugged high desert. The sheer size and isolation of the land make it the perfect place for our pack to live safely, hidden far from curious human eyes. Mystic Moon Ranch spans over 250,000 acres of working land, and our pack has owned it since 1853. For generations, we've taken pride in more than just ranching. We've built a way of life here-one that provides food, jobs, and stability for nearby communities while protecting the land that sustains us. Most of the ranch remains untouched wilderness, carefully preserved so future generations of our pack can roam the same forests, hills, and deserts we do today. From the outside, Mystic Moon Ranch looks like an enormous, thriving agricultural enterprise. But to those of us who live here... it's much more than that. It's our home.

Domestic livestock weren't the only animals that the farmers and ranchers had to deal with. The wildlife of the region didn't hide out in the bushes all the time. Sometimes they were pretty much in your face. Rattlesnakes came to the farms to catch the rats and mice that populated granaries. Rabbits also took a liking to the easy pickings. Both animals, rattlesnakes and jackrabbits, ended up being a nuisance that the local farmers and ranchers had to control.
