But his life quickly changes when a stranger arrives in the woods with a message from Crowley about something, or someone, needing he and Halt's protection from Morgarath.

Daniel Ortiz grew up as a slave in Sonderland. Ripped away from his mother as she was sold to a different region, he had to fend for himself at the young age of seven. He was rebellious from the get-go and quick with wit - which was a recipe for a hard life. Several years later at the age of 13, Daniel escaped Sonderland with other slaves and followed them to a nearby port. They posed as deckhands and after many months, Daniel wound up in Araluen. All he had to go on was to find his home fief, a distant memory from his mother's stories that he had clung on to during his frigid childhood; Aspienne. Bearing a surname the Baron didn't recognize, Daniel couldn't prove his own citizenship but was graciously allowed to become a Ward all the same. This is where our story begins.

Thrand grew up by the forest of Evernight- he played there, hunted there, and hid there throughout his child hood. but when he comes across a dying warrior, he is entrusted with a sword with the power to bring peace to the land- or tear it a part.

A quick oneshot of a scene that I always considered to be missing from the book. Takes place immediately after the battle against the Tualaghi and after the Arulean captives are released.

Twins One, a Ranger. The other, a diplomat. Both, look like their mother. William and Alysster Treaty, they were named. William is like his father, Will Treaty, in the sense of becoming a Ranger and Alysster is like his mother, Alyss Treaty, in the sense of becoming a diplomat. The two brothers may have different career choices and different personalitites, but they don't have opposing views on anything. But things start turning for the worse when Alysster goes missing while out on a mission. William ends up going to extreme lengths to search for his brother. Even if it meant running to the spot where Alysster was last seen. Which happened to be in Gallica. Will William ever be able to find his lost twin? Or will Alysster be lost forever?
