[[under heavy rewrite//postponed]] According to Father, the Broken City used to be full of all kinds of people, but that was back when there was no such thing as being Pure because, well, everyone was. Father told stories of days when the Cities were full of thousands- millions of people, all equal and strong, and there were no border walls built around the areas deemed to be meant for the clear-skinned only. The cities were like a single, unified landscape of silver tipped skyscrapers, in which everyone was happy, and clean, and very well fed. Once, Father told, there had been no need for a Ration Train at all. Today was different. Minnow had never thought of it being different, for she had been raised on the farm, and had always known the Broken City to be as it was. But Mother, Father, the Brooke's, and even the other hired farmhands, the Sholhart brothers, they all told of a time before, a time that made this time look like an entirely different world. It wasn't just the people on the Farm who remembered Before, Minnow understood that it was every adult, and most importantly, every one of the Scarred. Cover by: @That_Guitar_Girl

*** Featured on Writer's Amino! *** After pollution has reached toxic levels and the world's only nuclear reactor left melted down, society is on the brink. Governments try to provide survivors with supplies, but often cannot - people are dying too quickly. Then the new technology arrives. Small, white chips programs to keep the human body alive. People's bodies are too damaged to survive on their own - they need these chips. The chips last for one hundred days - they give people one hundred days of life. One hundred days before they must get a new chip. The chips tell you how well they're working. They will turn either, blue, green, or red. Every one hundred days or so, if the new shipment of chips don't arrive, people start dying. Blue means life. Red means twenty-four hours to live.

❝See? When you feel a slight pull or a tug in your gut, that's your magnetism power pulling you towards the magnetite iron. Follow it. Your health depends on how much you mine. The more you mine, the more food you get.❞ Glaring at the apathetic bunch, Conner's lips curled in annoyance. "Any questions?"
